Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 5 on 24 July 2026 as its strongest general model, with stronger coding, computer-use and agentic-workflow claims than the company's prior releases. Anthropic lists API pricing at $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens, while the model is positioned as the default on Max and the strongest option on Pro.
A new Opus release, with caveats
The launch materials describe a large context window, a 128K output limit, thinking enabled by default and effort controls for demanding tasks. Those are release specifications, not an independent benchmark. The API also includes beta controls for long-running work, so a buyer should separate the headline model from the exact endpoint and feature flags it intends to use.
Recheck your workflow
Run a fixed coding or document task against the current model and Opus 5. Record accepted output, retries, tool calls, latency, input and output tokens, and total cost. Check current plan availability, regional access, retention and the status of any beta feature before publishing a buying recommendation. The existing packet has no matching media asset for this slug, so Tank must supply an image with source provenance or an honest branded fallback before publication.
